Reporting to the Vice-President, Strategic Services, the Strategic Planner is responsible for providing strategic insights and direction to aid in the development of multi-channel, relationship marketing initiatives for existing and potential new clients. The Strategic Planner works closely with ThinData’s business development, account management, creative services and analytic teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze secondary research, manage and analyze primary research to fully understand the client's customer, their attitudes, motivations and desired experiences
  • Work with analytic partners to understand the relationship between consumer attitudes and behaviour, including the identification of key customer segments, as appropriate
  • Identify the most involving and effective connections between the client's product/service and relevant customer segments
  • Synthesize the understanding of these connections into insightful relationship management strategies and creative briefs
  • Collaborative effectively with the creative teams to help develop multi-channel campaigns that move the customer – both behaviourally and emotionally
  • Help shape the business case to the clients and sell ThinData's point of view and recommendations, particularly from the customer's need and receptivity perspective
  • Partner with client service and analytic groups to crystallize for clients the return on investment of our campaigns
  • Interrogate the results for insight that will increase the effectiveness of the next generation of thinking
  • Consistently write strategic copy that accurately and poignantly communicates the desired message of the campaign or project
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in the field of Business
  • 3-5 years' experience as an account/brand/strategic planner in a direct and/or digital agency developing CRM, direct marketing and digital campaigns
  • Retail-focused work experience
  • Ability to understand, synthesize and distill results from primary research and data/analytic reports, into smart strategic recommendations
  • Exceptional verbal, written, analytic and project management skills; ability to effectively express ideas verbally and in writing
  • Masterful strategic writing skills
  • Ability to establish a harmonious working relationship with team members
  • Assist team members with presentations, briefs, strategies by translating creative concepts and ideas into words and delivering
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong collaborative and team building skills
