Director, Account Management

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, the Director, Account Management is a member of the Account Management team accountable for retaining key company clients, developing strong client relationships with senior level executives, securing contract renewals with ThinData’s top clients and leading prospects, and generating sales revenue to meet the company’s business plan. Revenue can be increased through existing client relationships or by adding new divisions and/or affiliates. The incumbent is also responsible for hiring, managing, supporting, developing and motivating a team of direct reports (Account Director and Account Managers) to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

The Director, Account Management sits on ThinData’s Executive Management Team which steers the operations of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and strengthen senior level relationships with key clients

  • Ensure key accounts are strategically managed; maximize client satisfaction by monitoring client feedback and developing solutions for prompt resolution of any issues

  • Manage all account management strategies to increase client revenue; meet ThinData fiscal sales targets

  • Identify and expand upon opportunities within client organizations to add new divisions or affiliates in support of revenue growth

  • Negotiate and secure contract renewals with ThinData’s top clients and leading prospects

  • Hire, manage, motivate, support and develop an Account Management Team to inspire and drive performance to meet departmental goals and objectives

  • Coach and mentor Account Directors/Managers; motivate and retain team members by creating engagement and commitment

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate forecasting and opportunities management of all client related revenues

  • Work with other ThinData departments including Production, Business Development, Technology and Marketing to ensure workflow efficiency of projects, client on-boarding and client feedback

  • Work with Executive Vice-President to develop new profitable products and services based on client feedback and market needs

  • Develop an annual Strategic Account Management Business Plan and implement it upon approval


Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ Degree (Marketing preferable)

  • 5 years’ experience as a sales manager managing people

  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets

  • Experience in conducting performance reviews, providing regular employee feedback, recommending salary increases and performance management

  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills

  • Uses good judgment

  • Possesses strong decision-making capabilities

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong written and oral communications skills; excellent presentation skills

  • Experience making presentations to key stakeholders and senior executives

  • Network of industry contacts

  • Knowledgeable about market and industry trends, competitors

  • Ability to lead client strategies

  • Strong listening skills

  • Demonstrated leadership among employees

  • Experience executing tactical sales plans including sales quotas and account objectives
