ThinData is looking for an experienced, hands-on and accomplished Project Manager to lead, manage and deliver complex IT and business and technology initiatives. This position is part of the Project Management Department reporting to the Director of Project Management and Client Solutions. The incumbent would possess a unique blend of project management expertise and business acumen supporting and leading multi client, product and internal development activities.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Manage the planning, execution & quality of internal programs & projects which can include but are not limited to product development & maintenance, infrastructure initiatives & general process improvements

  • Develop an intimate understanding of ThinData’s core product(s) and work closely with the CTO & VP of technology to initiate & prioritize projects

  • Project management for internal programs including initiating, planning, execution, control / monitoring & closing

  • Understand business needs & objectives as they relate to internal programs – includes coordination of multiple stakeholders from different functional areas (project management, business development, technology, quality control, account management, marketing, support)

  • Initiate new projects that would benefit overall business objectives in collaboration with other departments

  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary development team to ensure the program or product under development meets stakeholder requirements

  • Develop comprehensive project plans and manage against them

  • Understand and incorporate scale, security, and architecture considerations into the program requirements and concepts

  • Assist the Marketing Communications team in their development of accurate positioning and messaging for any new features, innovations, and enhancements of products to ensure maximum market and internal employee acceptance and understanding

  • Manage project scope/requirements changes, multiple and competing demands and priorities determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk using appropriate fact-based metrics/assumptions.

  • Determine quality standards and oversee the execution of project deliverables

  • Develop and maintain the integrated Program-level schedule.

  • Develop weekly and monthly program status reports

  • Provide time & cost estimates

  • Establish Program Processes and Controls (Integrated Program Planning, Financial Planning, Risk management, change management, project tracking, measurement and reporting)

  • Identify resources and skills required for development work

  • Ensure new resources are oriented on the Program processes, guidelines and best practices.

  • Contribute to ongoing development of Program Management Framework guidelines and templates.

  • Capture and document lessons learned and best practices

  • Manage external vendors on a project by project basis

  • Other duties as needed

Requirements:

Qualifications/Skills


  • Minimum 4 years Project Management and or Program Management experience

  • Strong Project Management and or Program Management experience focused on software development

  • Demonstrate knowledge of project management and/or program management methodologies

  • Clear understanding of software development life cycle and web technologies

  • Demonstrated experience with stakeholder management, executive level communication and a good understanding of change management methodologies

  • Formal education in project management or program management an asset

  • Experience working with an in-house product an asset

  • Very comfortable with technology

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft business products -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project or other project collaboration software

  • Understand basic computer systems (hardware / software) and electronic communication technologies

  • Basic understanding of common internet protocols, SQL, .Net framework or ASP

  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written
